The Dudh Kunda was not catalogued in ICIMOD's  (International Center for Integrated Mountain Development) list of glacial lake .

However, during a trek in 2011, Didier LEMARÉCHAL found that the lake's moraine dam looked fragile. Hence, GDH decided to study it.

In Octobre 2014, GDH carried out a full site investigation and took the measurement required for the elaboration of a risk map. The probability of a  G.L.O.F.* on this lake is high. However, the volume poured during the rupture is small.

The human vulnerability is high during august (season during which a GLOF is likely top occur) as there is a pilgrimage which attracts hundreds of pilgrims during the full moon.

The economic vulnerability downstream of the lake is limited to some grass land, fields and about twenty houses on the river bed.
