The Lumding Lake (Tsho Og) is a proglacial Lake at almost 5000 m of altitude. It had been catalogues as having a high risk of rupture by ICIMOD in 2012. The GLOF risk is limited because the moraine dam is very wide and rock is present a a low depth.
The risk of dam rupture is higher for one of the two smaller lakes above it. A GLOF on this lake would trigger a large wave on the Lumding lake.
A study of the dam to ensure that it is fully impermeable is necessary. The human vulnerability downstream of the lake is very limited.
